Albert Nipon was born in 1927.  He is a famous fashion designer and manufacturer of ladies silk clothing.  He was born and raised in Pennsylvania.  He started his business with a small business manufacturing maternity clothes and now he is known worldwide for his women’s clothing business that he began in the early part of the 1970’s.  Among his clients are Nancy Reagan and Barbara Walters.  Albert Nipon designs can be found worldwide in dress stores and fashion boutiques.

Anne Klein was born in 1923 and died in 1974 at the age of 50.  She was a world famous fashion designer who created a sportswear line and apparel label.  Anne attended the Traphagen School of Design inNew York and studied fashion from 1937-1938.  Her first company was a clothing line for young women.  The label was established in the year 1968 when she partnered with Gunther Oppenheim who was also a popular fashion icon.  Anne died in 1974 and her position was left in the hands of her husband, Chip Rubenstein.  As of 2003, the Anne Klein brand is owned by Jones Apparel Group.

George Peter Stavropoulos lived from 1920 till 1990.  He was a famous New York designer who was known for his beautiful silk chiffon dresses and evening gowns.  The influence behind a great deal of his designs was from a classic Greek Sculpture.  He had many famous clients including Elizabeth Taylor, Lady Bird Johnson and Barbara Streisand.  Many of his other clientele were upscale society women from New York.  George was born in Greece and in 1949 he opened his own shop in Athens.  He moved to NY and opened a boutique there in 1961.  By the 1980’s, women were paying upwards of $7,500 for his exquisite works.

Anna Marie Garthwaite was born in 1688 and passed away in 1763.  She was an amazing textile designer who was very well known for her handmade silk fabric dresses.  She began designing in 1728 and produced over 1,000 creations in the course of 30 years.  Many of her designs are now at t he Victoria and AlbertMuseum.  Her designs are all dated and the colors still look vibrant.  Anna Marie has been known as the “pre-eminent silk designer of her period.”  In 1998, a Blue Plaque was given by English Heritage and is at the home she lived in and worked at.

Alice McCall is a famous fashion designer who has worked with the likes of Blondie and Kelis.  She has also done various commercials for Nike and MTV.  She is best known for her silk tops and vintage dresses from the era of the 1950’s.  Many of her designs have been bought by Kate Moss and Katy England.  The Alice McCall launched in 2004 and is now sold at more than 165 boutiques as well as department shops throughout the Middle East, the United Kingdom, the United States and Asia.  Her brands are also a hit with the likes of Mandy Moore, Mischa Barton and Elle Macpherson.  You can find Alice’s line at AliceMcCall.Com.
